High quality
and sustainable

Situated in East Africa, Ethiopia is considered to be the original home of coffee. This is where the plant was discovered in the ninth century. To this day, the red coffee cherries are still mainly gathered from bushes that have been grown from wild seedlings.

Exceptionally fine beans come from certain hillsides in the fertile parts of the Sidamo district in the south of the country. These form the basis of this single-origin coffee, which has an incomparably sophisticated aroma with a hint of herbs and a spicy, full-bodied flavour.

Planting hope: five tree seedlings per pack

While enjoying Dallmayr Ethiopia, you are also supporting Karlheinz and Almaz Böhm’s foundation ‘Menschen für Menschen’: for every packet of Dallmayr Ethiopia that we sell, five tree seedlings are planted in Ethiopia. The trees that grow from these seedlings improve the quality of the soil and thereby create better living conditions for the people who live there.

Millions of tree seedlings have already been planted. You can find out the exact number here. Trace Dallmayr Ethiopia back to the plantation.

Socially responsible coffee pleasure

By purchasing Dallmayr Ethiopia, you too can show your support for Karlheinz Böhm’s Menschen für Menschen foundation – while also enjoying a truly magnificent highland coffee.

Preparation

Dallmayr Ethiopia is perfect for the traditional preparation of filter coffee, whether brewed in a filter machine or with a manual filter. If you decide to buy Dallmayr Ethiopia as whole beans, please make sure to set the grinding level to fine.

We recommend using 6 to 8 grams of coffee powder and a brewing time of up to eight minutes. Convenient measuring spoons are available that hold around 7 grams of coffee, making it easy to portion the powder.

If using a manual filter, the water should be at a temperature between 92ºC and 95°C. Do not use boiling water, otherwise bitter flavours will be brought to the forefront. Coffee tastes best when freshly prepared. If there is a large amount left over that you do not need at once, transfer the coffee into a thermos flask.
